FIBER LASER CUTTING

Fiber laser cutters are the most state-of-the-art method of cutting complex metal parts.

Fiber laser cutters use a highly focused laser beam generated by amplified light, delivered through a fiber-optic cable, to slice through metal with precision that was once unattainable. This powerful technology offers unmatched precision, speed, and efficiency when compared to traditional CO2 lasers and water jet cutters.

Fiber lasers cutting speeds are up to 6x faster than CO2 cutters and 5x faster than water jet cutters, especially with thinner materials. Their ability to produce a narrower kerf (cut width) and a smoother edge, requiring little to no post-processing. This is especially beneficial when working on intricate designs or components that demand high accuracy.

Fiber lasers are highly automated, with CAD/CAM software enabling precise programming of cuts. This reduces material waste, speeds up production, and improves overall efficiency. Fiber laser cutters are also incredibly energy-efficient. They convert nearly all the electricity they consume into laser light, minimizing waste.  Industries such as aerospace, electronics, construction, and green energy are adopting sustainable laser cutting to contribute to a greener future.

Whether you’re fabricating custom parts, signage, or industrial components, a fiber laser cutter delivers consistent, high-quality results.

FIBER
LASER
BENEFITS

PRECISION

Fiber lasers have unparalleled precision, producing a narrower kerf (cut width) which enables complex, intricate cuts with high accuracy and tight tolerances.

CLEAN
CUTS

The fiber laser beam allows for finer details and smoother edges, which reduces or even eliminates post-processing.

CONSISTENCY

A fiber laser's optics path has no moving parts and is completely protected from contaminants. This enhances reliability. CO2 lasers have exposed moving parts that get dirty and need regular replacement, decreasing cutting performance.

LOW
WASTE

Fiber lasers have a clean and dry cutting process that produces minimal waste. In contrast, water jet cutters produce toxic sludge, dirty water, and abrasive materials that needs special disposal.

SPEED

Fiber lasers are up to 6x faster than CO2 lasers and 5x faster than water jet cutters.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Fiber lasers use comparatively less energy. They convert almost all of their input energy into cutting power, whereas CO₂ lasers waste up to 90% of their energy.

VERSITILITY

Fiber laser cutters can handle a wide range of metals, including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, brass, copper, and nickel.

LOW DISTORTION

Fiber lasers have a reduced heat affected zone compared to CO2 lasers. The localized heating from the laser minimizes heat distortion, ensuring the integrity of the cut edges.

Ward's Manufacturing has been an excellent partner for our business. We often need custom metal parts for our projects, and we always go to Ward's. They complete our requests on time and the quality is excellent. Kiffin and Kelly run a great operation!
